# Ruth: a line that remembers

A complete new 32-bar solo through the unchanged original Ruth guitar, not
another instrument model. The user identifies Pat Metheny as the musical bar;
this is not a claim of matching his playing, an equipment imitation or a copied
recorded solo. All earlier Ruth performances remain intact.

The actual accepted head contains Bb/G/A: a falling third and upward recovery.
This manuscript remembers that shape rather than filling each change with a
descending scale. It opens quietly, answers above the first bass fill, carries
a longer sentence through D7/G, and changes B to Bb when major turns minor.
C remains one voice into F minor. The remembered shape returns at its original
pitch, then above it, and below it as Db/Bb/C. One brief gathered triplet passage
spends energy; a later answer climbs to D5, then the ending brings the thought
home as G/Eb/F and a quiet Eb.

The eight sentences have unequal spans; this is not an automatically repeated
four-bar lick or an attack/accent reset at each chord. Four reply windows are
chosen from actual unchanged bass events, including the shorter second fill.
Written guitar gates plus the original 160 ms release leave these spaces; the
highpass tail is not assumed exactly silent. Major-to-minor carries include
intentional suspensions rather than pretending every held pitch is a chord tone.
Pitches, rhythm, gates and touch are authored together, so this is a whole
performance comparison, not single-variable causation or random humanization.

The renderer is the frozen study-17 original-guitar renderer. Model SHA256

excitation, physical release, highpass, pan and source gain stay fixed. Its
existing simplified per-note physics remains; these choices do not implement
a new mechanical player. No samples, agent playback or paid review APIs.

Comparison A is an exact crop of the untouched original Ruth solo, not the
unapproved preceding writing experiment. Comparison B changes only the solo,
with one transparent complete-solo playback-level constant. Full export must
preserve accepted theme/ring-out/closing PCM and integer mix-minus-guitar
backing. Both full pieces are linked, with four solo-first players so the user
can judge without waiting for the introduction. Complete actual synthesis,
PCM/codec, page, publication and old-asset checks remain required.

A recognizable subject and development are compositional choices, not proof
of soul, human understanding, good tone or Pat-level playing. Neither take is
declared a listening winner. Every earlier source, score, model, recording and
URL remains unchanged; the new performance uses a separate experimental path.
