# Ruth: a longer melodic argument

The user wants convincing solo writing, with Pat Metheny as the musical bar,
and explicitly prefers Ruth's original guitar. This is a separate new complete
32-bar chorus. It is not another guitar model or another single-note diagnostic.
Every original Ruth recording and both preceding writing experiments remain
preserved at their existing paths.

## The thought across the whole chorus

The opening tune's A-to-G answer becomes a two-step falling thought, A/G/F.
Rather than introduce the same little neighbour question every four bars, the
reply grows into D/C/Bb, crosses the F-major/Am/D7/G-major passage in one longer
sentence, and lets B become Bb when the colour turns minor. The bass receives
its existing answer spaces; written rests are not assumed to erase release tails.

The next sentence reverses that fall into F/G/Ab, rises gradually, and carries
C through the G-minor/C7 and C7/F-minor changes without new barline attacks.
One short, quicker rise spends the accumulating energy. It comes back down to
D, turns that third into Db, then reaches the upper Bb before another bass reply.
The C5 crest arrives after that reply, not as another fresh lick at every chord.
C/Bb/Ab remembers the falling thought; Cb makes the minor colour audible. The
line then descends into a quieter G/F/Eb answer in the low register.

There are six manually written sentences with different actual spans, rather
than eight independent four-bar cells. Pitches, onsets, gates and touch are
authored together. No random timing humanization, per-bar accent reset, copied
recorded solo, numerical soul score, or claim of Metheny-level playing.

The earlier [phrasing reference](https://www.patmetheny.com/qa/questionView.cfm?queID=233)
informs the goal of developing an idea; it is not a formula that guarantees the
result. Musical quality still needs listening judgment.

## Original instrument and preservation

Only the new solo is resynthesized. The frozen study-17 renderer directly uses
the accepted original guitar model SHA256
`1acd8809a4576871e9927bd2ca5015aeb5e6530b5fc956766bd64f502da9813d`,
with its original excitation, release, highpass, pan and source gain. No physical
guitar replacement, new pickup/amp recipe, recorded samples or paid review API.
Its simplified per-note physics remains a limitation; phrase labels do not
implement finger mechanics or prove human musical understanding.

The existing shared bar clock, harmony, all bass events, theme and form remain
fixed. The comparison control is the preserved tied-C version of the first new
solo, not the rejected newer guitar study. Export retains exact theme/ring-out
and closing PCM and the original integer mix-minus-guitar backing. One constant
on the new complete solo matches playback level; it must never alter the accepted
theme or bass. All technical, actual-codec and native-player preservation checks
remain required before any separate publication. No agent audio playback.
