A little more open country

The opening theme, followed by an original solo at 0:42. The spacious rhythm of the previous study is unchanged; the melodic ideas are simpler and less ornamented.

A recurring open-interval call and simple descending answers bring the solo toward a folk-like Americana character. The spaces, singing sustains and subtle vibrato remain. The bass has the same room to answer. Six bass pitches around 0:06–0:13 are also corrected against the recording; their timing is unchanged.

Guitar melody and bass, with no added chord layer. The bass uses the gentler-ringing model. The opening guitar melody is unchanged. Guitar vibrato comes from small changes in the simulated string tension. No samples. No added chords. The solo is our composition over the tune’s changes, not a transcription of Pat Metheny’s performance.
